Food Services Worker Program
The Food Service Worker program trains graduates on the key knowledge and skills needed to be an integral part of an integrated healthcare team by providing quality nutritional service in locations such as long Âterm care facilities, hospitals, and special care institutions. This 450 hour program prepares students in important aspects of this field including food preparation, safe food handling, nutritional requirements, communication, and customer service. This program was developed to meet the requirements of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care and employers for those employed as a Food Services Worker in a Long Term Care facility.
About The Program
The Food Service Worker Online Live (FSWO) program is delivered using three methods that build on each other,
with an emphasis on convenience for our students. This approach enables improved learning effectiveness while
ensuring the students have the competency to succeed in their field of study.
Delivery Methods
Online Flexible Learning Activities – Self-directed assignments designed to build on livestream sessions and develop topic knowledge using video, readings, exercises, quizzes, and independent projects to be completed during the week.
In-person Practical Labs – Regularly scheduled in campus sessions designed to build on the theory by simulating real world experiential situations in preparation for a career.
Externship – A placement with an employer designed to bridge the gap between classroom and the work environment.
