Course Objective

The objective of the Phlebotomy Seminar is to learn the basics of phlebotomy and venipuncture as it relates to patient care.

Course Content

  • Introduction – importance of Phlebotomy in patient care
  • Patient interaction and related legal, ethical and safety issues
  • Patient identification and lab requisition form
  • Venipuncture equipment and Vacuum-ized blood collection system
  • Routine venipunture using vacutainer system

Course Prerequisite

  • Degree or Diploma in a medical discipline OR a minimum of 1 year experience in a medical setting
  • Current Medix students should be at least halfway through completion of their current program and be in good standing
  • English Proficiency
