Early Childhood Assistants (under the guidance of the Teacher) provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development through designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum according to established guidelines.

What You Will Learn In The Classroom
The Early Childcare Assistant program at Medix College provides training for individuals looking for a rewarding career working in the Early Childhood Assistant field. Early Childhood Assistants (under the guidance of the Teacher) provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that encourages their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development through designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum according to established guidelines.
As part of Medix’s Early Childcare Assistant program, you will learn to work collaboratively with teachers to deliver Early Learning Programs. Modules cover a range of topics including:
- Collaborating with teachers in planning, developing and implementing daily activities that support and promote the development of children
- Assisting children in washroom routines, dressing and lunchtime activities
- Completing anecdotal reports, observation checklists and developmental checklists
- Maintaining on-going developmental records for each child
- Attending staff meetings to discuss progress, address any problems with children and offer possible solutions based on your knowledge of each child
What You Will Learn In The Labs
The Early Childcare Assistant program was designed to equip childcare workers with valuable knowledge, skills and experience for employment as Assistants in day care centres or early learning centres. Through case studies, simulated daycare environments. role play and in-class discussions, ECAs learn of the responsibilities of an early childcare assistant and provide opportunities for them to perform those duties. Hands-on activities include creating seasonal arts and crafts, fun and educational games that promote physical activity and planning and preparing nutritious meals based on the Canada Food Guide.
What You Will Learn Outside of the Regular Classroom Setting
TPI-MAS helps students recognize the choices they have in life and how to control how they think to change the way they live their lives. Students will understand how the human mind works and how their beliefs and attitudes influence the present and shape the future. The program encourages students to have a positive outlook and strive for goals despite any challenges and obstacles.
The Enriched Academy program will teach you how to manage your money and build a solid financial future.
