COVID-19 FAQs for Current and Prospective Students

Please find below frequently asked questions that are specific to students taking courses with Medix that have moved online. This page will be continually updated as more information is available.

What is Medix College doing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19?

Many health officials have cited that the most effective thing we can all do to help fight the spread of COVID-19 is social distancing. In order to make that possible for everyone while also providing essential education and training for the community, we have acted in the following ways:

  • Beginning March 23rd, all Medix classes will be taught at a distance using our Learning Management System (LMS) and/or other tools. In the best interest of the students, staff, and community during this time, students will not be permitted to come to the Campus.
  • Increased sanitizing and cleaning of all areas of the campuses.
  • Minimal faculty and staff will be on campus, and if possible, will all be working from home. During this time, communication between faculty, staff, and students will be limited to email, phone, LMS, and other online software.
  • Reduced hours for administrative support staff to limit any possible exposure
  • Increased protocol for screening all visitors that may come on campus

Medix College is continuously monitoring the Covid-19 pandemic and will take all of the necessary steps to comply with local, provincial and federal legislature and ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community.

What offices are going to remain open? Who should I contact if I have questions?

All locations will be closed to students from March 23rd, 2020 until April 6th, 2020 unless further updated. All educational services will resume as usual, but move their services exclusively to email and telephone. Your instructor will be in regular contact with you via LMS.

Can I leave the Greater Toronto Area and go back home to my family?

We understand that many students are faced with difficult decisions regarding whether to return home, given the increasing challenges with international travel. For the time being, we suggest students avoid traveling to help contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus and better prepare for when classes resume their normal schedule.

I’m a current student having technical issues logging in, downloading software, etc., who do I contact?

IT support will be available for students. If you are experiencing technical difficulties, please email: [email protected] – please note that due to the reduced staffing protocols in place, we will do our best to get back to you within 24 hours but may take longer. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

Are you still accepting applications for new students?

Yes. As difficult as it may be to think about the future in times like this, it is very important to remember how crucial the roles  of our healthcare workers are. We can not say enough about the amazing job they’ve done and sacrifices they’ve made this year, which is why Medix College is committed to continuing healthcare training.
