Starting a new career is an exciting decision, but it often comes with financial challenges. At Medix College, we understand that paying for college is a significant investment, and we’re committed to helping students explore financial aid options that make education more accessible.Â
Whether you’re a recent graduate, an adult learner, or someone looking for a fresh start, there are many pathways to fund your education and prepare for a brighter future.
1. Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
One of the most well-known sources of government funding for education is the Ontario Student Assistance Program.Â
OSAP provides both grants and loans to eligible students who are Ontario residents. This funding can help cover the cost of tuition, textbooks, supplies, and even living expenses. If you’re unsure whether you qualify, don’t hesitate to connect with our Financial Aid Office.
Who is eligible for Canadian student grants? Eligibility depends on a variety of factors, including financial need, residency, and enrollment status. If you’re studying full-time and meet the income criteria, you may be eligible for non-repayable grant funding.

2. Student Line of Credit
Most major Canadian banks and credit unions offer student lines of credit that can be used to cover the costs of attending college.Â
While these are typically loans that require repayment with interest, they often come with lower rates and more flexible terms than traditional personal loans. A good credit score, or that of a co-signer, is usually required, and repayment typically begins after graduation.
3. Lifelong Learning Plan (LLP)
The Lifelong Learning Plan is an initiative from the Canada Revenue Agency that allows you to withdraw funds from your Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) to pay for education.Â
You can withdraw up to a set amount per year and repay the funds over time. For mature students or those returning to school after several years, this is a great way to use existing savings to fund career development.
4. Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP)
If you’ve been named as a beneficiary under a family member’s RESP, those funds can be used to pay for your education. RESP funds can cover tuition, books, and other related costs, making it one of the most straightforward ways to access money for school.
5. Employment Ontario
Programs under Employment Ontario, administered by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, offer assistance to individuals who are unemployed or receiving Employment Insurance.
These supports are often tied directly to retraining and upskilling for high-demand careers, including those offered at career colleges like Medix.
6. Monthly Payment Plan and Out-of-Province Aid
At Medix, we also offer flexible monthly payment plans through our Business Affairs Department. These can be customized based on your budget, helping reduce financial strain while you study.Â
If you’re an out-of-province student, our career college in Ontario will help you explore what aid is available from your home province, including loans, grants, and bursaries.
